Weekly meetings with guest speakers are held every Wednesday, 12pm at Wolf Bay Lodge, 20801 Miflin Road, Foley.
Speakers range from young orators to active community members. Typically, topics covered grant insight into the workings of the Foley community — school, public works, and charitable organizations are all represented each year.
Community Involvement
The Optimist Club of Foley also sponsors several activities to share our Optimism in the community:
- Avenue of Flags
- Teacher of the Year Recognition
- Law Enforcement/First Responder Recognition
- Swift School Christmas party
Scholarships
The Optimist Club of Foley awards approximately $5,000 in annual scholarships to graduating seniors of Foley High School. Six scholarships are sponsored by the club:

Foley Optimist Club – Charlie Boller Memorial
Foley Optimist Club – Frank Turner Memorial
Foley Optimist Club – Louise Provost Bouzan Memorial
Foley Optimist Club – General Scholarship
Foley Optimist Club – Essay Contest
Foley Optimist Club – Charles J Ebert Memorial
Foley Optimist Club – Oratorical Contest
The scholarships are administered through the South Baldwin Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization formed by the Optimist Club of Foley in 1987 providing more than $7 million in scholarships since its inception.
